Acknowledgement of Country
Where we work, and what we carry forward
Voleno operates from Boorloo, on the lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people, whose custodianship of this Country spans more than 65,000 years, the longest continuous living culture on Earth.
We work in the language of stewardship: guiding organisations, managing risk, building for what comes next. But we recognise this is surface and superficial to a higher form of stewardship. A connection to Country that the Whadjuk Noongar people practise that is far more enduring and grounded in deep connection to land, sea, community, and the responsibility to sustain all three for generations yet to come.
We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia. We pay our deepest respect to Elders past, present, and emerging, who maintain their culture, Country, and spiritual connection across millennia.
This knowledge, intergenerational responsibility, and care for the whole is something modern organisations are beginning to explore. We do not claim to understand it at a deeper level yet, but commit to continue to seek wisdom from Elders and will carry this perspective with us.
